Something New

Ok, so the title A new beginning was getting old but I am trying something new, it's called SparksPeople. I played with it last week but I'm going to be active with it starting today. We'll see how it works out. I did lose 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks as we start week 3 of our "Biggest Loser" contest at school. I hit my weight lose goal for the 2 wk period. I'm going to try and post more here but with school, work & other stuff, it still may be sporadic.

Weekend


Here it is, Saturday October 25th and we're heading to the Fall Carnival to take photos, then to a friends sons football game, then to the car show and finally I can watch the Hockey Game tonight! It will be the first time in many years that we haven't run errands all day and then gone to races that night (the Monster Mash race is tonight but since we no longer work at that track, we aren't going).


Dang, the hockey game was pre-empted by Football. Go figure. Stars lost too, 6-5 in OT. I did listen to the game on the net but it's not the same as watching. I may have to pay to watch if this happens too often. Maybe it's a black-out, don't know.

A REALLY new beginning

It's now September 1, 2008 - the year is flying by fast but my weight has stayed the same. Now that school has started, I need to get back into a routine and follow it. That's not easy but I need to do it for myself & my health. I sure wouldn't want to miss any time with the kiddos at school.

So what's my plan, you ask? Not sure - but let's talk about it. When I lost the weight before I was a tracking fool, so I guess my first goal is to start tracking what I eat - good or bad - no judgment, yet. The only other thing I need to do right away is eat earlier in the evening. Since DH doesn't come home until dark most days, I will either eat on my own or with DS, if he's home. So lets say my goals for the next 2 weeks are to eat around 6-7 pm (I get home from school around 5), and to track what I eat. Sounds like a plan to me! All I need to implement my goals is a notebook & that I have already pulled out of the closet and have it ready for tomorrow.

GOALS for 9/2 - 9/16

1. Eat dinner around 6 -7 pm
2. Track what I eat & times.

Oh, and a 3rd by-the-way goal, blog my progress regularly so I'll see y'all back here next Sunday at the latest!

New Start

Today was the day I started fresh. I'm going to eat healthy, single portion size meals. Well, lets just start with single portion size... I will make better choices, I will eat more fruit & veggies & less "bad" carbs & I will cut down on the amount of food I consume.

I am using positive self-speak, which is hard since I've used negative for 50 years, but it can be done. It must be done if I'm going lose any weight. So today was a good first day. Woke up late so no breakfast, but socialized more at lunch than ate and drank a lot more than usual too.

Day 2

Yesterday went very well! I ate healthy, didn't snack on unhealthy stuff when I got home, made dinner early so I could eat at a decent time (DH & DS showed up around 9). And I didn't overdo it before bed. I actually woke up hungry - which probably means I need to snack on something more than a glass of milk before I go to sleep.

Today is good so far too. I think that since I'm able to eat lunch while I'm being the nurse, that's helping, but since my lunch break is now, I can have a healthy snack and that seems to be working out - at least for the last 2 days. I still have to figure a snack between lunch & dinner, I guess I just have to have something ready when I get home is all... We'll see how tonight goes.

The journey begins

So I'm sitting here munching on carrots and hummus, thinking I need to journal my weight loss and not sure what to write next. I guess I should write about my goal and how I plan to achieve it. I should write about where I am now and not so much how I got here but how I'm going to use my past experience to help me get to where I want to be. And maybe I should write my daily foods & exercise (I don't exercise right now). What else should I add? My weight-loss goal is 50 pounds.
